Annie has had a busy winter with visits from both David (in December) and Martin (in January). It’s been great to get personal updates on the progress of the building work at the New Bethel site (and lots of photos!)

It has been a long time since the children left Bethel Home to live in their temporary accommodation. After years of delays and difficulties, caused mostly by local bureaucracy, the building is now well under way. Martin reported to the trustees that the roof was about to go on the main building as he left to return to the UK.

An expensive bridge and channelling were installed along the access driveway, to ensure the stream supplying the local village with water was protected from pollution. This, combined with the high levels of inflation in building costs experienced throughout India, meant that rather than the 3 buildings planned originally there will be just two, one for the boys and one for the girls.

Annie hopes to have the children moved and settled in May, in time for the start of the new academic year. We look forward to our first photos of them in their new home!
