India Direct’s School Links

The involvement of Poynton High School has made an enormous contribution to the success of India Direct in caring for the children of Bethel and Joy Homes. You can read more about the history of the link between India Direct and PHS in the “About Us” section.

Our partnership has benefitted the students at PHS as much as the children we support in India, teaching them about the world they live in and the importance of helping those less fortunate than themselves. The students who participate in our fundraising projects have developed their patience, wisdom and imagination, developed lasting friendships and had a lot of fun along the way. If you would like your friends or students to enjoy these benefits, why not get your school involved in some fundraising for India Direct?

Since 2004 the staff and students at PHS have raised almost £25,000 for India Direct, in addition to the funds to enable them to travel to Tamil Nadu. Many have gone on to sponsor children at both Bethel and Joy. You can imagine the wealth of fundraising ideas they have come up with; here are just a few you might try. You can donate the proceeds to us via the “support us” button![/vc_column_text][vc_separator color=”grey”][vc_column_text]

School Fundraising Ideas:

Bag Packing

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1835″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]Many local supermarkets allow charity bag-packs, but they all have their own rules about who can pack and for which charities. You will have to contact your local stores to find out.

If you can organise a bag-pack with friends, it can be very worthwhile and raise a lot of funds in a short time.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Curry Nights

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1663″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]Many restaurants are very quiet on certain days of the week and are happy to offer you a good deal if you can bring in a large group. Agree a price per head, then sell tickets to your friends for a few pounds more.

You could even organise a raffle on the night to raise a few hundred pounds or more during a lovely evening out![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Car Washing

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1520″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]Training days are great for this, as you have a car park full of staff cars and an army of students with some free time. They just need some buckets, sponges, wash/wax and a little bit of adult supervision to raise £5 or more per car.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Baking

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1845″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]Personalised Valentine’s biscuits and Christmas treats are always popular, and are fun to decorate and deliver. Everyone loves cake, so a break time cake sale can raise lots of money!

If this is your sort of fundraising, you might want to have a look at out Tiffin Time page![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

£10 Challenge

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1848″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]The £10 challenge is a great way to fundraise whilst also promoting enterprise and business skills within your school form, class or year group.

Enterprising youngsters are given £10 to spend on ‘raw materials’ and asked to try and produce the largest sum of ‘profit’ (to be donated to India Direct) after the end of a set period. It’s great fun and has seen students garden, wash cars, bake cakes, make jewellery and all sorts! You can even offer a prize to the winning individual or team![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Be Inventive!

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image border_color=”grey” img_link_target=”_self” image=”1518″ img_size=”300×225″][vc_column_text]You’d be surprised at some of the ideas that you and your students can come up with!

Be inventive! We’ve had sponsored head shaves, charity runs and biathlons. Fundraising starts with fun and making sure your charity work enjoyable is will give a better chance of it succeeding, raising money and attracting recruits![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_separator color=”grey”][vc_column_text]
