Teeing off at the 1st tee

The Tytherington Club, Macclesfield

18 teams of 4 took off to a shot-gun start at 1.30pm after a bacon roll and a strong coffee. The weather was superb for the event, warm and sunny with a gentle breeze.
Tytherington Golf Course is challenging with “lots of sand” as one of the winning team told us. That did nothing to deter any of teams, whether beginners or experts! All had a great time. The atmosphere throughout the day was relaxed and enjoyable. The Tytherington Club Golf Manager, Matt Gillibrand was on hand throughout to ensure that things ran smoothly. wholesome home-cooked hotpot supper went down very well at the end of the day.
There were many prizes on offer, including high quality golf shoes for the winning team, boxes of golf balls and golfing clothing. Raffle prizes included wellington boots from the 2010 Football World Cup, sterling silver designer jewellery and vouchers for games at Stockport Golf Club and Tytherington. A donated 2002 Manchester United Team shirt, signed by all the members of the team, raised £250.
The winning team, “Hogan the Savage” were Phil Hogan, Mark Fielding, Oliver Cunningham and Ian Menzies. Each bagged a pair of top quality golf shoes. The event has raised over £5000, with the final amount yet to be finalised.
India Direct would like to extend a big thank you to all who made this such an enjoyable event. Special thanks go to Tony Swallow and David Ashmore for organising the event for us, and to the Tytherington Club for looking after us so well.
