Johnson has heart attack

Last month, our treasured member of staff, Johnson, had a heart attack. He underwent emergeny surgery to fit a medical stent (at a cost of around £2,500) and is happily now fit and back to work. His wife Rosie was delighted to have him back at Joy alive and well, and so are we.

Joe Mawood – 64 mile Bike Ride

Joe cycled 64 miles on the 10th of July from Manchester to Blackpool to raise money for India Direct. FSI Challenge a great day out!

We took part in this years' FSI challenge at Thornbridge Hall, Ashford in the Water, in the beautiful Peak District.  The weather was hot and cloudless when our 8 runners set off.  The starting point was under a bridge on the disused railway line behind the hall.

India Direct Golf Day – 10th June 2011

18 teams of 4 took off to a shot-gun start at 1.30pm after a bacon roll and a strong coffee. The weather was superb for the event, warm and sunny with a gentle breeze. Tytherington Golf Course is challenging with “lots of sand” as one of the winning team told us.

St. Edward’s Junior High School Sponsors Child

Grace Nadin-Salter recently gave 6 talks to Year 7 (aged 11-12) students at St. Edward's Junior High School in Leek, Staffordshire.  The students heard all about India Direct, the work we do in India and watched a video made by Annie and Omega about life for a poor child in the villages of India.
