Christmas 2020
We are delighted to have raised a fantastic £2,690 from our Christmas fundraising this year, which for the first time included listing our handmade cards on the website Etsy to further promote our work.
Our fabulous and largest ever team of card-making volunteers made over 1,000 cards, which came for the first time in 3 different packs – Traditional, Classic and Music-Inspired. We are extremely grateful to our volunteers for giving up their time for this fundraising project, and to all of you who supported us by sending our cards this year.
As we found in the UK, the Christmas celebrations looked rather different in India this year; with the forced closure of the homes and all the children supported in the community, the usual celebrations were replaced with practical gifts and food parcels arranged by our Indian partners for each family.
Those living locally were given an allotted time to collect their parcel from the Home, with hand sanitiser, temperature checks and masks reducing the risk of infection. Families received bags of food and hygiene provisions, with children receiving a small gift in addition. In addition, we were able to supply a number of families with chickens – promoting self-sufficiency in their community.
